Why Design Systems Matter for Scaling Startups

Without one, every screen gets rebuilt from scratch, spacing and color decisions drift screen by screen, and engineers end up guessing at intent instead of referencing a source of truth. We typically introduce a lightweight system during a product redesign rather than as a separate initiative, since that’s when the team is already re-evaluating every screen. It’s far easier to document a pattern while you’re building it than to reverse-engineer one later.
